Brief History:

This 1958 356 Coupe, originally delivered in Meissen Blue, was purchased new by Elaine M. Kotter of Chicago, IL. Her husband, Clarence “Clare” Kotter joined in on the fun and purchased a matching car for himself - a 1958 Meissen Blue Speedster. Together they would spend the years 1958 - 1974 as a race team, competing in both PCA and SCCA events throughout the mid-west and east. As of September 1964, according to a feature article on her in Panorama Magazine, Elaine had already amassed 22 first place finishes in both club and SCCA racing. Clare was the mechanic on both Porsches but there was no doubt that this was Elaine’s car as evidenced by the “His and Hers” redline labels she placed on the tachometer. The original roll bar and 1962 dated fire extinguisher still grace the cabin as well as the original red vinyl interior. A small patch of swirling in the paint can be seen on the roof of the car, right above the driver’s door, where she placed her helmet on race days. Elaine had two good luck charms when she raced - the number 33 and a Stinky Skunk air freshener. To honor her, Valentina Trentini has hand painted Elaine’s name and number “33” on the glovebox. We’ve also found a new, less stinky, Stinky Skunk air freshener to travel with. In the late 60’s, Ford released this Metallic Green color, at which time Elaine and Clare were ready for a change of pace. Green was the new color and “The Creature” had officially arrived. In 1974 both cars were retired from racing and left to rot in the wet Chicago climate. Fortunately this unique paint survived but the metal underneath significantly rusted. Finally, in 2023, The Creature found new owners and a new shop to call home - Scott’s Independent in Anaheim, CA . The car was disassembled and almost all of the structural metal underneath was replaced and neatly undercoated. A 1950cc engine was built along with a custom 4-speed gear box and high speed gear ratios. GT Backing plates were installed along with fully adjustable gas shocks for easy suspension tuning. Today, finally, The Creature lives again, ready to blast through the canyons of California. Just like Elaine would have wanted.
