Brief History:
1969 Golden Green 911e. Dealer Chick Iverson, Newport Beach, special ordered the car in this unique color and configuration. It was not as popular as the dealer had hoped and the car sat on the showroom floor for 6 months before being sold. From the original invoice of $7,922.15 the special paint (6828) was $162.70. The unique configuration included a Sportomatic transmission and hydro pneumatic suspension. From the original invoice the Sportomatic upgrade cost $316.30. The car was regularly driven until sometime in the late 1980’s when the transmission failed. The car was parked in a garage in Orange County, Ca for about 25 years before being found in 2013 by R Gruppe enthusiasts who pulled it out of the garage and began bringing the car back to life. They decided to upgrade the motor to a 2.7-liter RS spec, paired with a 5-speed 915 transmission. The paint was not perfect and wore blemishes across the front end from rock chips, etc. The car has been a regular driver since the completion of this work and was purchased by the current owner in early 2015. She grew up in Orange County and remembers seeing and falling in love with this specific car in and around Newport Beach in the mid 1970’s. It was a pure stroke of luck that the two were reunited. In early 2023 the car took a “bump” to the engine cover while parked in a parking lot. No damage was done to the engine but it was decided that a full repaint was in order. There was no possible way to color match the 50+ year old patina that the majority of the car was wearing. During the repaint the car was taken down to bare metal and underwent a minor restoration including new headliner, new windshield and a variety of other new bits and pieces. The car has fresh, single-stage Glasurit paint in the original Golden Green.
