Brief History:
My first 911 was a 1985 Carrera, which was reluctantly sold when my second daughter was born. No sour feelings or negative regrets but this decision allowed me to dream and plan for my future 911. Roughly 18 years later, when my daughter entered college, I went shopping for a 997. I came upon my Turbo (pre- Covid) and got an amazing deal. My 911 and I are extremely active. No saving her for the kids. Driven often, track events, weekend drives, and "coffee" runs...
But last summer was the big one. For my 60th birthday, I drove across the continent, San Francisco to Nova Scotia and back. 30 days and 9800 miles. My wife flew to meet me in Chicago, and we did "Chicago" things. Then she flew to Montreal to meet for the Canadian F1, Grand Prix. I continued onto Nova Scotia (to dive into the ocean. I'm a retired San Francisco fireman and rescue swimmer) There was so much more too. The entire Rt66. The Blue Ridge Mountains. The Dragon at Deals Gap. American Revolution and Civil War sites. The food!!! Elvis birth place. Niagara Falls. Bonneville Salt Flats. Barber Motorsports raceway. Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Atlanta Speedway. There is just so much, and the 997 was there with me. My refuge in stormy weather. My bedroom if necessary. My companion in song as we cruise-controlled along the highway, listening to country music. Windows and sunroof often wide open. This is my continuing story of my 997 Turbo. I hope that I will be able to share with other dreamers. My IG @calspeed and tag #crosscountryporsche I now work at Porsche San Francisco
