Brief History:
1968 Benton Performance Group.
This car was delivered to LA from the factory. It's lived many lives and worn many liveries, but all of it has been in LA.
This car is driven weekly 100+ miles in canyon, desert and mountain roads. It does (at least) two 500+ mile road trips each year. It is proudly a 'driver' so I view road rash on the nose and a couple of windshield chips as badges of experiences, fun and great memories.
A dry, straight California car was gone through from end to end by the talented, passionate craftsmen at Benton Performance in Anaheim, CA to optimize for driving experience and reliability. A 1.9 liter displacement upgrade from stock, rebuilt 5 speed dogleg with tall 5th gear makes it suited to both canyon and open highway. With its lighter weight and increased power/torque it keeps up fine with its 6-cyl friends. Fresh, stock suspension keeps its late 60's driving character. Upgraded front vented brakes provide additional confidence for spirited driving.
A few custom, but period touches to the interior add to the character.
Technical details are cool to dive into, but what matters most about this car is the experience it provides. Analog, visceral, emotional are good words to describe it. But fun is the best, most accurate word. It makes the driver and pretty much anyone who sees it on the road smile.
Speed is a number. Fast is a feeling!
See you out there.
